Motherhood--Messy, but PERFECT!/You Know You're Too Busy When . . .

Are You Too Busy… or Just Used to Being Overwhelmed?

You keep thinking: “This is just a busy season.”

Once the kids are older.
Once work settles down.
Once we’re past the holidays.
Once summer’s over.
Once school starts.
Once, once, once...

But what if the “busy season” never ends?

What if you’ve gotten so used to being overwhelmed that it’s become your normal?

Let’s talk about it—because it’s a quiet trap so many moms fall into (myself included.)

We’re convinced that slowing down is just around the corner.

We keep pushing, pushing, pushing—telling ourselves we just need to hold on a little longer. That peace is coming.

But if we’re honest… we’ve been saying that for years.

And life? It just keeps stacking more on our plate.

What we call “busy” might actually be unsustainable. And what we call “normal” might actually be burnout.

Here are a few red flags that you’re not just busy—you’re living in survival mode:

  • You feel behind before your day even starts.
  • You wake up already overwhelmed, already stressed—and the day hasn’t even begun.
  • You say “I just need a minute” more than once a day. And you rarely get it.
  • No matter how much you do, it’s never enough. Something always falls through the cracks.
  • You feel like you’re doing everything for everyone… and still failing.
  • You’re not angry. You’re exhausted.
  • You snap at your kids or partner—and instantly regret it.
  • Your brain is constantly switching tabs, and you feel mentally scattered all day.
  • You can’t finish a thought without being interrupted.
  • You can’t remember the last time you felt fully present, peaceful, or like yourself.

If any of that hit home, I want to tell you something important:

You’re not weak.

You’re not lazy.

You’re not doing it wrong.

You’re just too busy for too long—and it’s time to make a change.
