The Thought That Kept Me Small for Years: "I'm a Loser Mom"

Motherhood--Messy, but PERFECT!/The Thought That Kept Me Small for Years: "I'm a Loser Mom"

For years, there was a phrase that lived rent-free in my mind. A thought so subtle, yet so destructive, that I didn’t even realize the damage it was doing.

"I’m a loser mom."

Ugh! It sounds so awful, doesn't it?

It became my knee-jerk reaction to mistakes, to tough days, to moments when I felt like I was failing my kids. I didn’t say it out loud, but my brain whispered it over and over until I believed it.

And here’s the thing—when you believe something, your brain will go looking for proof that it’s true.

So every forgotten permission slip, every frustrated sigh, every moment I lost my patience became evidence that I wasn’t measuring up. That I wasn’t good enough. That I was failing at the most important job I’d ever have.

But what if I had been looking for different evidence? What if I had told myself something else?

What if, instead of repeating "I’m a loser mom," I had whispered:
👉 I’m a winner mom. Sometimes I lose, and that’s okay.
👉 I mess up, but I show up. And that’s what matters.
👉 I love my kids the best way I know how, and that makes me a great mom.

Because the truth is, for every mistake I made, there were a hundred little wins my brain had ignored:
✔️ The extra hug at bedtime
✔️ The times I showed up when I was exhausted
✔️ The sacrifices, the love, the endless effort

I don’t feel small anymore. But I never should have in the first place.

Negative thoughts are more powerful than we realize.

That single thought—*"I’m a loser mom"—*kept me stuck for years. It drained my confidence. It made me second-guess myself. It stole joy from my motherhood journey.

What’s the thought that’s keeping YOU small?

Maybe it’s:
❌ "I’m failing my kids."
❌ "I can’t handle this."
❌ "Other moms have it together—I don’t."

Whatever it is, don’t let it take root. Don’t let it shrink you.

Because the opposite is true, too.

🌟 You’re stronger than you think.
🌟 You’re more capable than you give yourself credit for.
🌟 You are exactly the mom your kids need.

So when doubt creeps in? Remind yourself of this:

You are a mom who tries, who loves, and who keeps going.

And that? That’s a winning mom.

Every. Single. Day.
